The ‘Sailor Dude’ or SD for short is the embodiment of TRP613, but also everyone! SD has collaborated with artists all over the world and transformed into so many different forms. This series focuses on the different ways SD is represented. The inspiration comes from pop art, 90’s sub culture, past artists and post modern weirdness. Bright colours and bold lines really bring the Sailor Dude to life. 100% hand-drawn 1:1. Do you even "Sailor Dude”?
TRP stands for his initials and 613 for the postal code of Ottawa where he comes from and grew up in the 80’s with the strong influence of hip pop and pop culture. Creating art has been part of his daily life since he can handle a pen. He has drawn and spray-painted in the streets for ever, before discovering Procreate and starting digital paintings. TRP613 is also deeply connected to a vast Street-Art community and loves sending his stickers to his friends all over the world to see his Art in the streets of all the continents. All TRP13 universe is built around a very emblematic character: this big red beard sailor dude. Many references we can see on the different variations of this sailor dude come from TRP613’s life: the “P” letter is the initial of his kids, a Wu-Tang tattoo as a tribute to the clan… He is a very adaptable character which makes him fit in a lot of different contexts. He got blown away when he went to an Art show recently and experimented selling some merch with the sailor dude, he then realized that a ton of people already knew and recognized this character from different cities around the world! TRP613 sees the NFTs as an amazing opportunity for a new continuation of his Art through digital property as an extension of life on Earth. For him it’s also a great way to bring more people into Art. Being used to do physical Art drops in his city Ottawa by dropping free canvases and stickers with a hint on Instagram for people to find them, TRP613 sees NFTs as a very powerful way to engage and reward a community of collectors.
